Jim and I were both drawn to the field of counseling
following years of our own experience in therapy.
We felt drawn to help others on their spiritual and
psychological journey to finding the love, hope and
restorative power of Jesus Christ. We met in college
and found that we had the common goal of wanting
to help others heal.
We began our careers working for agencies that were often as sick as the clients
we served. We found that that environment wasn’t healthy for us, so we
began to create our own private practice where both Jim and I and our clients
could experience serenity.
Jim and I wanted to create a place where we could be ourselves. We wanted to
be free to pray, worship Jesus and practice excellent psychotherapy. We opened
Treeside Psychological Clinic P.C. on September 15, 2000. It began in a small
office space with three rooms. Five years later we had outgrown our space and
began the task of finding a larger location. The place that God led us to was,
as God usually is, above and beyond anything that we had dreamed of. We were
able to purchase the Wieland House, in downtown Lake Orion.
This was the healing place that Jim and I had always dreamed of. People of the
community recognize it as one of their favorites, known for its gardens and historical
significance within the community. The first day that we looked at the home as
a possible site for Treeside, we knew when we walked in the door that this home
had the beauty and serenity that we were looking for.
The beauty of the house is both relaxing and inviting. Clients can relax on the
porch swing and sit in the gliders by the waterfall pond in the back yard. The
landscaping paints an ever-changing view of God’s glorious creation. The
beauty inside the house also offers the same warmth and calmness. Each room has
been carefully decorated to invite the client to enjoy and savor the atmosphere.
We began as a team of two and have grown to a team of nine who all have their
own personal story of how the Holy Spirit led them to Treeside. We love each
other as Christ has loved us. We sharpen each other with weekly staff meetings.
We are dedicated to clinical excellence and advanced training in our various
fields of expertise.
