My belief is that “life is difficult”. I see
counseling as a part of normal life, because everyone on
this earth endures hardships and hurts. Many people believe
that their problems need to be severe to warrant counseling.
So often we try to do it alone. Getting support is really
an act of self-care which everyone deserves. While many
people suffer trauma and abuse they can actually recall,
many of us endure traumas related to what didn’t
happen, but should have. Our past experiences often lead
us to create coping strategies which work early on, and
then lead to dysfunction later in life. I know God has
given me my own struggles to assist me in connecting, understanding,
and guiding others through the process of recovering from
life’s difficulties.

Continually, I am amazed by the process of therapy, how God uses me
and my relationship with a client to facilitate emotional healing. I
truly love working closely with people and witnessing amazing changes
take place in their lives. It is an honor to be part of people’s
journey.
Because talk therapy alone did not work for me in my recovery, I have
come to utilize experiential therapy. Exeriential therapy is a creative
process, typically led by the individual and facilitated by the therapist,
which includes talking but also incorporates music, art, metaphors, and
psychodrama.
